Weight loss, medically guided. Semaglutide Weight Loss Injection in Singapore
A once-weekly injection that helps you feel full sooner and eat less. Our doctors check that it's right for you, start you on the lowest dose, and review you at every step.
*STEP 1 trial, 2.4 mg dose, 68 weeks, with diet & exercise. Individual results vary.
What Is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a prescription-only weekly injection. It copies GLP-1, a natural gut hormone that helps control appetite. It is used for weight management in adults, after a doctor's assessment, and has been available through doctors here since July 2025.
By acting like GLP-1, semaglutide helps with weight loss in three ways:
Smaller appetite
Signals fullness to your brain, so you're satisfied with less.
Fuller for longer
Slows how quickly food leaves your stomach.
Once a week
A single injection each week, at home — no daily tablets to remember.
Semaglutide works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and regular activity — it makes those changes easier to stick to, rather than replacing them.
Am I Eligible for Semaglutide in Singapore?
Semaglutide may be considered for adults who meet either of these:
BMI 30 or above
Our doctor will check that semaglutide is suitable for you.
BMI 27–29.9
Our doctor will assess whether semaglutide is suitable for you.
Quick BMI check
Enter your height and weight to see your BMI.
For Asians, health risks begin to rise from a BMI of 23. Semaglutide may be considered from a BMI of 27, after a doctor's assessment.
Not suitable if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2), or if you have had an allergic reaction to semaglutide.
Needs a closer discussion with your doctor if you:
- have had pancreatitis
- have severe gut problems such as gastroparesis
- have diabetes with eye complications (diabetic retinopathy)
- have type 1 diabetes
- are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy — semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before trying to conceive
How Much Weight Can You Lose on Semaglutide?
In the STEP 1 trial (1,961 adults with obesity or overweight), people on semaglutide 2.4 mg lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight over 68 weeks, alongside diet and exercise — compared with 2.4% for those on a placebo:
Bars show % of body weight lost, on a 0–25% scale. Kilograms are for someone weighing 90 kg. Individual results vary.
Semaglutide Dosage Schedule
You start low and build up slowly over 16 weeks — this gives your body time to adjust and helps reduce side effects such as nausea. All doses are once a week.
Start low
A starting dose that lets your body get used to the medicine.
Step up every 4 weeks
0.5 mg, then 1 mg, then 1.7 mg — each for four weeks, if you're coping well.
Stay on the dose that works
2.4 mg a week is the usual ongoing dose. If it doesn't suit you, your doctor may keep you on 1.7 mg.

Semaglutide Side Effects
Common — usually mild
These are most common when starting or stepping up a dose, and tend to ease. Smaller, less greasy meals and plenty of water help.
See a doctor promptly if you have
- Severe, persistent stomach pain (possible pancreatitis)
- Upper-right belly pain or yellowing skin (gallbladder)
- Swelling, rash or difficulty breathing (allergy)
- Vomiting or diarrhoea that won't settle (dehydration, which can affect the kidneys)
- Changes in your eyesight, if you have diabetes
- A racing or pounding heartbeat while at rest
- Shakiness, sweating or confusion if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea (low blood sugar)
In the STEP 1 trial, nausea and diarrhoea were the most common side effects. They were usually mild to moderate and eased with time; 4.5% of people stopped treatment because of stomach side effects. Not a complete list; our doctor will go through the risks with you.

See our price table. Semaglutide for weight management is generally self-paid. Our clinic team will confirm your cost before you start.
Semaglutide may be considered for adults with a BMI of 27 or above, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and regular activity. It is a prescription-only medicine, and our doctor will assess whether it is suitable for you.
Semaglutide can only be obtained with a doctor's prescription from a licensed clinic or hospital — it is not sold over the counter. Avoid online sellers and overseas websites — injections bought this way may be counterfeit, contaminated or wrongly dosed.
Yes. You can start with a teleconsult instead of visiting a clinic. Our doctor reviews your health, BMI and medicines, and if semaglutide is suitable, your pen is delivered to your home with delivery included. If you need blood tests or a physical check first, we'll arrange a clinic visit.
Semaglutide prescribed for weight management is generally not claimable under MediSave or CHAS. Some private or employer insurance plans may cover part of the cost — check with your insurer, and ask our staff for an itemised invoice if you need one.
Semaglutide is injected once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. It goes just under the skin of your stomach, thigh or upper arm — rotate the site each week. You can change your injection day, as long as doses are at least 3 days (72 hours) apart. Missed a dose? Take it within 5 days; otherwise skip it and carry on from your usual day. Our clinic team will show you how to use the pen before your first dose.
Keep your pens in the fridge (2–8°C), away from the freezer compartment, and never freeze them. Protect them from light, and don't leave them in a hot car or in direct sun. If a pen has been frozen, don't use it. Our clinic team will explain how long your pen can be kept out of the fridge.
In Singapore, semaglutide is available as a once-weekly injection. A daily tablet form is available in some other countries, but not in Singapore at the time of writing.
Weight loss is gradual because the dose is built up slowly, reaching the full 2.4 mg dose from week 17. In the STEP 1 trial, average weight loss reached 14.9% after 68 weeks. Individual results vary.
Appetite usually returns, and weight often comes back. In the STEP 1 extension, people regained about two-thirds of the weight they had lost within a year of stopping. In the STEP 4 trial, people who switched to a placebo after 20 weeks saw their weight rise by 6.9% over the next 48 weeks, while those who continued lost a further 7.9%. Our doctor will plan with you how long to stay on treatment and how to come off it.
